Sukhmet Basin Bathinda, December 5 A 21-year-old Sikh woman has been shot dead in Brampton, Canada. Peel Regional Police said the incident happened at Petro-Canada at Creditview Road and Britannia Road West around 10.40pm on December 3. Police said a gas station attendant Pawanpreet Kaur was shot dead “multiple times” and died at the scene despite medical attention. “Upon arrival, police located the victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Lifesaving measures were attempted, but the victim succumbed to his injuries, Peel Regional Police said in a statement. Police are on the lookout for the suspect who was dressed in dark clothing and was seen leaving the scene on foot after the incident. Calling it a targeted incident, police have launched a homicide investigation. So far no weapon has been recovered from the crime scene, police said. They asked anyone with information or dash cam footage that may have captured the moments before, during or after the incident to contact investigators, adding that there is no threat to public safety. The incident comes days after 18-year-old Indian-origin Sikh Mehakpreet Sethi was stabbed to death in the parking lot of a Surrey high school. With inputs from IANS
