Howell Morgan, 47, took action after the youths had trouble at sea at Poppit Sands, St Dogmaels, Ceredigion, on Friday. Mr Morgan, known as Hyw to family and friends, was pulled from the water but could not be rescued by emergency services. The two children were taken to hospital for examination after the incident, Dyfed-Powys police confirmed. Police officers were called to the beach around 8.40 p.m. by paramedics who reported that several people had been trapped in hydraulic water. Mr. Morgan’s devastated loved ones paid a moving tribute to the “hero” and “devoted and loving father.” They said: “Hyw was a hero. Despite our pain and grief, he comforts us that he tried selflessly to prevent others from losing their lives. “Hyw was a selfless person who always left his time for others. He was a devoted and loving father and was loved and respected by all who knew him. “As a family, we would now like to mourn and ask for privacy to do so.”
