West Yorkshire (WYP) police have recorded an arson attack after the empty Sun Hotel was set on fire last night. Firefighters rushed to the scene on Church Street in Hanslet at around 9.30pm and police closed the road as crews extinguished the blaze. The fire was quickly brought under control, but has caused extensive damage to the former pub. A spokesman for the force said: “Police have recorded an arson attack following a fire in an abandoned building in the Hunslet area of Leeds. Police were alerted to a fire in a building on Church Street, Hunslet, just before 9.30pm yesterday (Friday, June 10).
