The Marconi Cultural Event Center hit today as families from across the city came out to support the latest Habitat for Humanity – Touch a Truck event. The practical event allowed children of all ages to get close to various trucks, cars and construction equipment. Among the trucks were emergency service vehicles such as fire trucks and police cruisers, as well as construction vehicles, city buses and tractors. The drivers were on stage to help the children get into the vehicles and provided training on how to work. Several vendors such as Beaver Tails, Roolz Cotton Candy and Fallen Leaves Maple Products were also on site to offer some delicious snacks and soft drinks.
Chelsea Foucher, marketing fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity, says this is their first post-pandemic event and was excited to welcome the community back to this long-awaited fundraiser. “It’s very nice that the kids have something to do,” he says. “It’s an educational and fun day for families.” Admission for attendees was by donation. Excluding donations, Habitat for Humanity has already raised over $ 10,000 thanks to all participating truck suppliers, sponsors and providers. All funds will be donated to the Habitat Affordable Housing Program to help local families build a brighter future.
